Pre-Visit Hair Prep

aka: how to get the best results from your appointment

Why This Matters

This page is here to help you get the most out of your time in the chair.

A little preparation goes a long way — it helps your color process evenly, protects your hair health, and allows us to focus fully on creating beautiful results together.

Bookmark this page and come back to it anytime. Calm, clear prep makes for the best experience.

Come With Clean, Clarified Hair

This is one of the most important steps in preparing for your appointment.

Before your visit:

  • Wash your hair within 24 hours of your appointment

  • Arrive with clean, clarified hair

  • Avoid heavy oils, masks, or styling products before your visit (unless we discussed otherwise)

Why this matters:

  • Product buildup and hard water minerals can block color and treatments

  • Clarified hair leads to more predictable, healthier results

If you’re unsure whether your hair needs clarifying, just ask — I’m always happy to guide you

Inspiration Photos (Yes, Please)

Inspiration photos help us get aligned quickly and avoid miscommunication.

  • Bring 2–4 inspiration photos if you have them

  • Focus on tone, depth, and overall vibe, rather than exact placement

  • Be open to professional adjustments based on your hair history and hair health

Inspiration photos are a starting point — not a promise — and help us create realistic, beautiful results together.

Be Honest About Your Hair History

Transparency allows me to protect your hair and give you the best possible outcome.

Please be open about:

  • Past color (salon or box)

  • Henna dye

  • Recent at-home treatments even if it was called a “gloss”

  • Hard water exposure

  • Scalp concerns, shedding, or sensitivity

There’s no judgment here — honesty helps me care for your hair properly.

Complete Your Consultation Form Ahead of Time

Completing your consultation form before your visit helps us use our time together intentionally.

This allows me to:

  • Review your goals before you arrive

  • Prepare thoughtfully for your appointment

  • Create a more relaxed, unrushed experience

Please complete your form at least 24 hours before your visit.

What to Wear + Bring

A few small choices can make your appointment more comfortable.

  • Wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting color near

  • Avoid high collars or hoodies

  • Bring a book, laptop, or simply enjoy the quiet — this is your time

  • Long appointment? Feel free to bring food or have it delivered if you wish

My studio is a calm, private space designed for you to relax.

During Your Appointment

Your appointment is a 1:1 private experience.

  • Appointments are unrushed and intentional

  • We’ll check in throughout to make sure you feel comfortable and aligned

To keep the space calm and focused, guests are kindly asked to wait in the lobby.

Aftercare + Ongoing Support

After your appointment, you’ll receive post-visit care guidance so you don’t have to remember everything we discuss in the chair.

If questions come up between appointments, please reach out — don’t wait until your next visit. I’m always here to support your hair and scalp health.

A Final Note

My goal is for you to feel prepared, relaxed, and supported — before, during, and after your appointment.

If you ever have questions about prep, products, or your hair, I’m here.

XO Kellyn
